Frequently asked questions about the Airmag air humidifier

Why use the Airmag air humidifier?

We spend more than 2/3 of our time in closed spaces, rooms or offices. The air in these spaces is low in oxygen level, full of dust and harmful particles and other substances, which are constantly circulating in your living spaces, and their number can rise up to 1500. Air humidity is extremely low because of the so called dry heating ( radiator, electric stove or floor heating). Air is dry and that makes a huge impact on our respiratory system. Our throat and nose get dried and even headaches occur.

The World Health Organization (WHO) evaluates that 40% of the young suffer from allergies, 25-30 % are asthmatics, etc. The percentage rises during winter, and gets even higher if infections, viruses and fungal infections are included.

We are facing two problems :

  1. Dry air
  2. Harmful emissions in the air we breathe

Air humidity

Air humidity is extremely low when living spaces are heated by using radiator heating, which makes the air dry. Measurements have shown that if we use any type of dry heating the air in our living spaces gets extremely dry (25 % Rh), but the norm is 40-60 % Rh. Normally, we humidify our spaces by ventilating them, which is a completely wrong thing to do during winter. The air in our atmosphere drops the dampness off on trees and the ground when temperature descends below 0°C. But the air in our living spaces gets really dry and cold if we ventilate them during winter, so it needs to be heated and humidified again. Humidifying dry air is a problem because it gets even drier with heating. Warm and dry air soaks everything humid from the space that we live in up (f.e. humid from wood, walls, plants..) including people and animals, which means that our respiratory system and uncovered parts of our body are exposed.

What makes the Airmag air humidifier better than other air humidifiers?

The difference between vaporization and evaporation

All already known humidifying devices are humidifying the air by evaporating, which means that steam is emerging when the temperature of water is above 36,18◦C.  Devices which are spraying water to humidify the air are known as well. Small or bigger moleculas of water inside the water drops, which subside onto cold objects( walls or windows) because of their weight. One part of the drop gets soaked into the object and the other vapourises in the air. Vapours are independent molecules of water, floating freely in the air. Relative humidity colerrates with the quantity of vapours in the air and is the base for our well-being and in many cases also for our health.

Which air is a clean one?

Cleanliness of air

When we talk about the cleanliness of air, we are actually talking about the damaging emissions which float in the air. We can devide this emissions into minerals( dust, atmosphere dust, soot), smokes and steams( tobacco smoke, oil smoke, other smokes, smog, steams), organic substances (formaldehydes, resins, glues,..). They all pollute the air in the nature as well as in the living spaces. The concentration of these substances is usually lower in the nature and also, the air movement is bigger. But in closed spaces,  the movement of the air is significatly smaller. And there are higher concentracions of smokes, steams and organic and artificial substances. We see a lot of impurities in the air. We can conclude that our  lungs have to refine a lot of impurities. But do they refine them?

We cannot change our working and living enviornment by ourselves. So in order to change it and to adapt to it, we must get to know it first.

Van Liysbeth’s climate zones:

  • High climate zone – the air is extremely good, invigorating : waterfalls, the woods after rain
  • Medium climate zone- the air is good, stimulating : the woods outside the town, pastures in the mountains
  • Little climate zone- mostly forest valleys, forest undergrowth,..
  • Zero climate zones the air is bad, polluted: mostly our apartments where we send approximately 300 days a year

Our fast way of living doesn’t assure us to walk in the high climate zones every day. But now, we can create a part of the high climate zone ourselves by using the AIRMAG air humidifier and purifier.

Solving the problem of dry and unclean air in dwelling premises

Electric humidifiers

Different types of air cleaning with filters are known to date. Quality filters are technically complex and too expensive for use in offices and households. There are some devices on the market, which humidify and purify the air simultaneously. It is known that air-conditioners in closed rooms can cause many infections and allergies due to their low-quality maintenance and unpunctual filter change.

Some electric air humidifiers, also named evaporators, can evaporate more than 7 liters of water a day. This steam condenses on objects and then slips on glass, walls or wood as water. You can imagine the quantity of humid in you living space if you leave this quantity of water to boil all day, every day. It results in humidity of our living space as well as our clothes, objects and even food. It can cause development of different moulds and algae which makes everything worse.

Radiator humidifiers- the Airmag humidifier and purifier

A new radiator air humdifying and purifying has been successfully enforcing on the Slovenian market- AIRMAG ( air magician). This devices works without electric power and humidifies the air with water vapours only. It assures us with an atmosphere-like air ( the air we breathe outdoors) and the floating impurities remain inside of the water holder so it is made sure we breathe a clean and healthy air. The patent and the model of this device are protected in the EU and the USA. The Airmag humidifier has won many awards, including the golden medal for inovation in Pittsburgh, USA.

How does the Airmag air humidifier work?

The heated and dried air in the radiator is gets directed to the longitudinal opening in the middle of the device, where it gets redirected into the water surface in both water holders of the device. Here, the air gets sprayed and humidified when it touches the water. The water inside of the Airmag never rises for more than a few degrees warmer than the room temperature because of the consistent flux of the water- adiabatic cooling. This means, the air in the room gets humidified by vaporization and not evaporation. The flux of the warm air from the radiator causes the circulation of the air in the room. The speed of this circulation correlates with the radiator temperature and the size of the room. Due to gravitation, floating partcicles, fumes and other substances from the air get absorbed into the water when the air gets redirected to the water holder of the device. The quantity of these deposits depends on the dustiness of the air, dissolved calcium carbonate and other alloys and substances in the air.

Because of the influence of the magnetic field, which is created by two permanent magnets, attached to the bac side of the Airmag, rising magnetic vapors provide the same air qualities as the atmosphere air in the nature does. Operation of the device can only be noticed when the water from the water holders vaporize and the air gets dry. This is especially noticeable in heated bedrooms when we wake up in the middle of the night with dried lips, nose and many times with a bad cough.

The purifying effect is mainly visible in the deposit in the water holder, which needs to be emptied at least once every two weeks. This deposit is dimly grey but if you smoke inside, this deposit is yellow-grey. The result of the purifying effect are also clean walls above the radiator and significantly smaller dirtiness and dustiness in the room. The air quality improvement affects well on diferent kinds of allergic reactions, throat and ears infections and respiratory system deseases as well as the asthmatics.

Moreover, house plants are going to react visibly on the increased air humidity and pets will do it as well. The Airmag humidifying and purifying device is made from a quality ABS material which doesn’t break and softens at 97°C.

How to clean the Airmag air humidifier?

Very easy!

Take dry humidifier off the radiator, pull the cover off the holder , and put the holder in the bathtub. Mix some vinegar or some citric acid into the water and pour it into the holder. After 1-2 hours, rinse the holder under running water and wipe it up with a cloth and the humidifier is ready to use!

Why an electric humidifier wouldn’t be the right solution?

Quality air filters are technically extremely complex and too expensive for normal use in offices and households. There are some devices on the market which clean and humidify the air simultaneously but their quality, maintenance and price are questionable. It is known that low quality maintenance and unpunctual filter change of aeration devices cause ,any infections and allergies.

Some electric air humidifiers, also named evaporators, can evaporate more than 7 liters of water a day. This steam condenses on objects and then slips on glass, walls or wood as water. You can imagine the quantity of humid in you living space if you leave this quantity of water to boil all day, every day.
